MEET MARIBEL
I am proud to have been raised in Santa Maria and be a daughter of this community. As the child of immigrants, and having personally worked in the fields picking strawberries, I know firsthand the hard work and sacrifice that built North County — and I know what's at stake for our families.
For over 20 years, I've served Santa Maria and Guadalupe as a non-profit advocate, attorney, and City Council member. I've fought for working families, stood up for our neighborhoods, and delivered results — not just promises.
I'm running for Supervisor because our families deserve a voice at the County table. The future of North County matters to me — not as a campaign slogan, but because this is the home of my family.
VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL · SPANISH VERSION
We need a leader who grew up in the district. Someone who looks like us, talks like us, and understands our values. This campaign is not about me — it's about all the hard-working families of Santa Maria and Guadalupe.
— MARIBEL AGUILERA

Ensure working families can afford to live in the community they built. Fight for housing solutions that serve North County residents by working with home builders to incorporate affordability from the moment a home is designed. These are not low-income homes — these are entry-level homes designed from the start to be attainable for working families to own. Central to the plan is streamlining the permitting process for modest-income homes — just as Ventura County has done and the state of California has accomplished for Accessory Dwelling Units. Affordability by Design coupled with a streamlined permitting process for modest-means homes is not just a housing plan — it is an economic strategy and an investment in our workforce.
Every family in the 5th District deserves to feel safe — in their home, in their neighborhood, and in their community. That is not a talking point. It is a responsibility I take personally, and one I have already proven I can deliver.
In three and a half years on the Santa Maria City Council, we reduced crime by 32%, expanded fire service by 20%, and made Santa Maria measurably safer for the people who call it home. That didn't happen by accident — it happened because the council made a commitment and followed through for the residents we serve.
Now I am ready to take that commitment to the county level, as your 5th District Supervisor. I will fully support our county fire and sheriff departments and our first responders — ensuring they are staffed, equipped with modern technology, and provided the training and the resources they need to protect and serve. From our city neighborhoods to our most rural communities, no family should have to wonder whether help will come when they need it most. I've done it before. I will do it again for all of our families.
Expand opportunities for young people through after-school programs. I have designed and written a plan named The Youth Empowerment Program. It is designed to take teenagers away from screens and toward hands-on learning, exposing them to the skilled trades — carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, and electrical work — as well as career pathways in law enforcement, firefighting, and public service. For students with a creative calling, the program plans instruction in music production and the arts, helping children channel their talents into a viable craft. These skills lead to good-paying careers right here in North County.
The Youth Empowerment Program is built on a simple belief: when young people are engaged, connected, and working toward something meaningful, they thrive. By giving our teenagers a place to belong and a passion to pursue, we give them the tools to build a future, and we strengthen the fabric of our entire community.
We invest in the next generation. We keep our kids safe, drug free, away from gangs, and on a path to success.
Championing the local businesses that are the backbone of our economy. Fighting to reduce red tape, expand access to resources, and help Santa Maria and Guadalupe businesses thrive.
Protecting the agricultural heritage of North County while ensuring sustainable development and a clean environment for future generations.
